Ways to Help Your Guests Find Your Remote Wedding Venue
If you are looking to have your wedding in a remote location? Some of the best, more photogenic locations are not in a typical venue. Or the venue is set somewhere off the beaten path.
Signage
The most efficient way is to have signage giving directions from the main road. However, that might not be possible or make sense for your location. If your venue area hosts many ceremonies and there’s a chance of mistaking another wedding for yours, make sure to have your names written boldly to ensure that your guests are in the right place. Light up letter rentals is a great way to have your names visible for all your guests to see.
Directions on The Invite
If you know your guests are going to have trouble finding the location. Write out the directions on your invite. A lot of us rely on GPS and technology apps to help us find the place. If you are going to a remote location, there is a good chance those might not work. It’s best to write them out on the invite. Having a drawn-out map on the invite can be helpful as well. The fewer words you use, the better. Even better is to write out directions and describe landmarks they should see on the way. Let’s be honest. It’s hard to read a street sign, but it’s easy to see a uniquely colored or shaped building.
Make Landmarks if None Already Exists
Suppose there are no useful landmarks to use when telling your guests how to get to the wedding site. You can always make some. If it’s prominent signages or balloon decorations, something to get your guest’s attention while driving. If those don’t work having other landmarks like your car or something else your guests should recognize.
Shuttle Services to your remote wedding venue
If you know a lot of guests are going to have trouble. Hiring a shuttle service to pick them up from a location that is easy to find makes sense so you can ensure that everyone is one time and that they are all together. If you have many guests, this makes a lot more sense than having them drive separately. This is also a good suggestion if there isn’t a lot of parking. Or if the parking is paid.
Large Entrances outside the remote wedding venue
Make the entrance area distinctive. Something like balloon arches makes for great markers of your wedding location, and you can make them in your wedding colors. You want to make sure your guests know they are in the right place. Having wedding balloon arches and other balloon garlands can help direct your wedding guests.
The Return Trip
At some point, your guests are going to want to go home. If they use landmarks, they’ll need those landmarks to be visible at night to help them get back to the main road. Or worse, maybe your venue has an entrance and an exit route that uses a different way you should make sure to communicate that to your guests. No one wants to be lost after a wedding in the dark, hoping to find their way back.
The Direction and Map Card
While stationary for weddings can be expensive. So cutting costs on saving the dates and invites can be a good area to save money. Having the direction and map card is important because they can physically take it with them when looking for your venue. They won’t have to struggle with trying to pull up the website to find directions.
We recommend that you don’t use a fancy font and try and keep it as clear and concise as possible for the direction card. Be descriptive but clear. Make sure you carry extras if your reception is at a different location than the venue. This way, you can hand them out to your guests when they forget where to go.
Travel can be one of the trickiest parts of wedding planning. Make sure everyone knows where to go and who to call if they get lost. Always think of your guests when planning a location. If it’s an outdoor venue without a proper walking path, remind your guests that heels might be a bit of a struggle.
